Standing with our Jewish community in the wake of Manchester attack
We are shocked and saddened by the tragic events in Manchester, where lives were lost and members of the Jewish community were injured in an attack outside a synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the Jewish community across the country. We share the grief of our Jewish students, staff, and local community, many of whom will be experiencing shock and anxiety in response to this horrific incident.
We know that this may feel particularly close to home for some in our community, and we want to remind you that support is available:
MDX Mental Health and Wellbeing Team – for 1:1 emotional support. Book an appointment using our self-service calendar or email us at CMH@mdx.ac.uk
MDXSU Advice Service – for free confidential, independent advice and wellbeing support for students, go to www.mdxsu.com/advice
MDX Care and Concern – for urgent support within University working hours or to discuss support options. Email CareandConcern@mdx.ac.uk
We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out, whether for yourself or if you are worried about a friend, student or colleague.
As a University and Students’ Union, we are united in standing against antisemitism hate, and violence in all its forms. We will continue to work with Jewish students and staff to ensure that Middlesex remains a safe, supporting and inclusive place for everyone.
With compassion,
Shân Wareing - Vice Chancellor, Middlesex University
Mohit Vyasam - President, Middlesex University Students’ Union
