We’re excited to share that Mihita Parekh has been confirmed as MDXSU President for 2026/27.
After the MDXSU Elections 2026, the originally elected candidate will no longer be taking up the role. In line with Elections procedures, a recount of the elections was carried out with the original successful candidate removed from the count (download the recount) Under the Single Transferable Vote system, votes are not lost when a candidate is removed. They are reallocated to each voter’s next stated preference, meaning that the outcome still reflects the genuine preferences of every student who voted. Following the recount, Mihita was confirmed as the successful candidate. The process was conducted in consultation with NUS, who acts as our Returning Officer.
Many students will already know Mihita from her time as MDXSU’s Education Officer in 2024/25, where she worked closely with students to improve academic life and represent student voices across the Uni. Over the past year, she has also continued supporting students as a Liberation Group Leader, bringing energy, experience and a real understanding of what matters most to Middlesex students.
Mihita will officially begin the role on 1st July, working alongside Nas (Activities Officer) and Temi (Education Officer).
We’re really looking forward to seeing what the new officer team achieves together over the next year.
