Movember at MDXSU
As November rolls around, it’s time get involved in a movement that’s changing the face of men’s health. Movember isn’t just about growing moustaches—it’s about raising awareness and funds for some of the biggest health issues men face today, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
What is Movember?
Movember, a blend of “Moustache” and “November,” started in 2003 when two friends from Australia decided to bring back the moustache as a way to raise awareness for men’s health. Fast forward to today, and Movember has grown into a global movement, with millions joining in to raise awareness and support life-saving research and mental health initiatives. Movember encourages men to talk, get regular health checks, and ask for help when they need it.
How You Can Get Involved
Grow a Mo: If you can, grow a moustache! It’s a great conversation starter and a visible sign of support for men’s health. Get creative and own your style—classic, handlebar, or something totally unique!
Move for Movember: Not into growing one? Challenge yourself to move for 60 km over the month in honour of the 60 men we lose to suicide every hour. You can walk, run, cycle, or do any activity that gets you moving.
Host a Mo-ment: Organise a Movember event on campus—think bake sales, charity sports tournaments, or a mo-themed party. It’s a great way to spend time with your friends and maybe even raise some funds!
Donate and Spread Awareness: Every little bit helps! Donations go directly to life-saving programs and research for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

Small Steps, Big Changes
Taking part in Movember is about more than growing a moustache. It’s about starting conversations, breaking stigmas, and supporting the men in our lives.
