The 8th of March is International Womens' Day and we use this day to celebrate Women and their impact - both on the world, and on Middlesex. This year we spoke to some of our female staff about what made them proud to be women - here's what they said.
"I am proud to be a woman! Women are powerful, strong and assertive, yet kind, with an amazing ability to be compassionate and vulnerable towards those we love in our lives without feeling weak for doing so."- Kris Irategeka
"Being a woman to me means being unapologetically yourself, despite the limitations and pressures society places upon you. Just existing as a proud woman in itself challenges social and political structures." - Camelia Purwanto
"I'm proud to be a woman because of all of those who came before me. I'm proud of the strength they had to stand up for what's right, which allows me to live my life freely today. I'm proud to be a woman because we're capable of so much more than we realise." - Charlie Cooke
This year, we're also incredibly proud of our 4 female Officers - Nishtha, Jaudat, Anastasia & Twinkle - who represent our students across the University. They make an impact on all aspects of student life, and you can learn more about what they do by going to their Officer pages. So, be proud to be a woman this International Womens' Day - because we're amazing.
